Kennedy Trailers had recently been given another exciting opportunity of creating a first in Australian history.
Partnering up with the team at Acciona, Kennedy Trailers designed and manufactured two 10 row 8 platforms to haul wind turbine blades in the Macintyre wind farm using a blade lifter attachment.

  • New generation wind turbine blades are 82m long & weigh 29T

  • Loaded combination weight of truck, trailer and blade weighs 150T & measures 4.5m wide and 103m long

  • Macintyre wind farm will be the first ‘gigawatt-scale’ renewable energy project in Australia & will power up to 700,00 homes once fully operational

NSW RAIL BOLSTERS

May, 2023

Our team here at KT were lucky enough to be apart of Forestry Corporation of New South Wales project to deliver saw logs by rail to bushfire-impacted sawmills in the snowy regions.

Sawmill companies in Tumut and Tumbarumba faced a large loss of supply when the 2020 bushfires struck. With a loss of supply these companies faced the dilemma of having to cut labour hours effecting the local community.

Forestry Corporation NSW will be delivering 270,000 tonnes of logs by rail to these effected sawmills over a three year period. Using rails is a more environmentally friendly approach as this method of transport will save up to three million litres of diesel, plus it minimises the impact on the road netwrok.

All together, we manufactured a total of 320 rail bolsters that were fitted onto container flats to transport the logs.

We are committed in supporting our Australian economy and are proud to be apart of this project that helps keeps local jobs open. Well done to everyone involved.
